The year 2023 is done and a new year has begun. This would be the optimal moment to reflect on the previous year, but I think I’ll focus on the past week as I’ve done the whole year and do a wrap-up later. Maybe.
This week I’ve mainly remained indoors and focused on sleeping a lot and just taking it easy, which isn’t as easy as it sounds. What I mean is dropping all the unfinished tasks swirling in my head and just enjoy being for a moment.
What that meant in practice? Well, taking long walks enjoying full winter weather and sitting indoors playing video games. I returned to the tactical roleplaying game classic Tactics Ogre: Reborn and time has flown with it. Good thing my television has a sleep timer to snap me out of it, so I remember to move around a bit too.

How far can a man stick to his principles under the heat of war and be right? Tactics Ogre lets you find out.
The other game I’ve continued playing is Sky: Children of the Light. I really appreciate the largely non-violent gaming experience after practically all the other games I played in 2023 were about beating up the opposition.
One interesting aspect about Sky is the social interaction with other players. Since there isn’t any way to fight the few monsters encountered, teaming up to boost energy and recovery is a nice touch of caring. Trust is also given by letting an unknown player hold your character’s hand and guide you to the right places. Its a weird experience, especially since there is no idea who the helping hand is in real life.

The clouds in Sky look great. Don’t know who that poser is, but thanks for standing there for the shot!
That said, I’m not sure how long my interest towards the game will last, as the game’s focus seems to be on players grinding fashion items for their character to wear, which isn’t really a big deal for me. For now I’m just enjoying the ethereal atmosphere in the game.
