Very cold lately, as low as -20 degrees. Add wind to that and the face is taking a good beating. There was the annual Lux Helsinki light festival too, but I merely walked past the installations on my way home due to the cold weather. I have however enjoyed walks over the frozen sea during the weekend. I like that.
Reworking networks
I haven’t been using Facebook the past months and now I decided to deactivate my account altogether and focus more on Mastodon (in addition to my blog as usual), though I must admit it is nowhere near as connected to my friends as Facebook is. But this is an experiment for now and lets see how it goes.
Being an apparent rebel against big tech companies, I must mention I’ve been quite pleased with my own cloud storage installation running under Nextcloud. It was a bit of a hassle to make things work, but after figuring them out I think I’ll be preferring it more over Dropbox.
Tour guides in the Sky
In the gaming front I’ve continued playing Tactics Ogre: Reborn and Sky: Children of the Light. The weird thing with Sky is that half of the time I just let some other player hold my character’s hand and he or she will take me to places I never would have figured out myself. It is like having a tour guide package of sorts in the game.
As I’m a fan of in-game photography, it was nice to notice Sky provides this with a camera that can also take selfies or even set up on a tripod.

Posing in Sky somewhere with my hard earned racing medal (I think everyone gets one despite the result).
What else? I ordered a book on mastering Linux (for beginners). I’ve been way too long spending time in server command line interfaces with minimal knowledge, that I thought maybe I should read a book on the subject. Might come in the mail next week.
