A laid back vacation behind

A long summer vacation came to an end weeks ago, which this time was a rather unremarkable one, as I didn’t leave Helsinki even for one night. I guess the mild summer weather didn’t force me to get out of Helsinki, not to mention that I wasn’t keen on going to Europe that was roasting in record heat waves.

So I ended up reading books, playing video games, watching the World Cup and doing some frequent running after a long pause. That is one way to spend a vacation.

Some mentions about games I’ve played.

Animal Well was a fun puzzle platform game that reminded me a lot of old BBC Micro computer games back in the 80s, like Chuckie Egg and Castle Quest. Like these classics, Animal Well was developed by a team of one, which is a rarity these days. I really liked playing the game that struck just the right balance of challenging puzzle solving without feeling completely stuck for long periods of time.

Animal Well was a slick and fun platformer to play.

I also returned to play a bit of Pacific Drive, as it had some new features, a new campaign and even more music from the local radio! Still as good as ever foraging supplies in the Olympic Exclusion Zone and wild drives back to safety.

My only friend in the Olympic Exclusion Zone.

But now I’ve started Horizon Zero Dawn (Remastered). This game wasn’t really on my to-play list, but its retail copy was so heavily discounted, that I decided to give it a go.

I’m only a few hours in, but already I can say this is one of the most graphically beautiful games I’ve played. The colours in particular are eye-popping. Hunting has also been fun thanks to well responsive controls. I think I might like this game.

Beautiful scenery in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Yes, a rather pointless blog post that doesn’t have much to say. Maybe I’ll start posting with more focused topics and intent in the future, but there is the risk I end up posting nothing. We’ll see.
