Rather rainy lately, but when it has been possible to take a walk outside, the muted colours in clouded grey looks quite nice. Even November has its moments then.
Football night
One evening I went to watch another UEFA Europa Conference League match, this time between HJK Helsinki and Eintracht Frankfurt. HJK got thrashed two weeks ago 6-0 by them, but now lost only 0-1. The gap between individual skills was obvious, but HJK did its best to create something.
The supporters of Eintracht Frankfurt were granted the whole north side of the stadium (to keep them better isolated from the rest of the spectators for security reasons) and did they make it feel it was their team’s home game. They were way louder than HJK’s supporters on the other end. Pyrotechnics were also used by both parties before kickoff, which created so much smoke, that the match needed to be delayed for a moment for the players to see the pitch in full.
But the atmosphere didn’t feel threatening (despite some idiot throwing a plastic mug of beer at a HJK player) and the amount of riot police outside the stadium felt like overkill, but I guess that was the idea to discourage any misbehavior.
Another Final Fantasy completed
I also managed to complete the main story of Final Fantasy VII Remake (Intergrade), which took around 36 hours (without completing any optional side quests). As a fan of the original game, I’m not sure what to think about this game.
The game is by no means a disappointment. The presentation, music, visuals and voice cast was great, the best yet I’ve played of all Final Fantasy games so far. Combat especially with bosses were intense, although hardly a real challenge (the now unlocked hard mode might fix that if I decide to replay it).
However, I have a minor gripe about the use of the main villain Sephiroth. I get it that he is an iconic character in the story, but his use in the remake felt too much of fan service instead of giving any meaningful addition to the story. I would have personally saved him for the later installments of the now destined trilogy, just as in the original.
- Silhouette of Cloud.
- Battles were stuffed with quick cut scenes like this.
- The president of Shinra was very … progressive?
- Cloud saving the day.
- Biking around with comrade Jessie.
- Walking around a seedy part of Midgar.
- So many details in the game.
- Amazing how facial closeups are no thingy in modern games.
- Cloud admiring art.
- Somber moments were also present.
- Glimpse of the horizon.
I must say, the visual standards in today’s games are so good, that it is a shame how hard it is to just stop in midst of the action and take a moment to admire the surroundings. But I guess that is an issue some of us have in real life too.
