Leaves come falling

Abstract photo I took while taking a walk (its a outdoor padel court).

Fewer leaves clutching on to the trees and most of them have fallen to the ground. November means city bike season is over, which I’ve been using more than I initially expected, but it turned out to be much nicer and quicker to get to work and back due to the major road construction site all over Helsinki’s major street Mannerheimintie.

Apparently I bicycled over 500 kilometers during the seven months (and hardly any on my own bicycle). Good service by the city, I must say.

This week’s highlight was seeing a music and dance performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem. I must admit I hardly knew anything about this famous funeral mass, but it caught my curiosity while browsing what is going to be shown at the Opera house, so I bought a ticket.

Acquired a programme booklet of the performance afterwards.

And it was good, very good. Probably even the best performance I’ve seen in ages. I got goosegumps, shed a tear, admired the superb singing and choreography, but I also had some difficulties soaking it into my tired mind. Really should start working on reviving it.

Under the steel sky

I’ve continued playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake, now around 20 hours gameplay and maybe half-way through (I avoided all possible side quests and just focused on the main story). I’m not a big fan of the anime-like behaviour of the characters, but that’s what they were like in the original game too, so I can’t complain about the remake sticking to its roots.

The battles are also way easier after grinding Stranger of Paradise. In SoP seeing the Game Over screen was constant, but with FF7R I’ve seen it maybe three times. The fights are not that bad though and require some level of thought instead of just bashing one button (like in Final Fantasy XIII). The loading times are insanely fast on the PS5, I have to mention.

Facial details are also plentiful compared to the few polygons on the original PS1 version.

To my pleasure, the game also has photo mode (for taking snapshots within the game), but is more restricted than in previous games like Final Fantasy XV and Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m guessing the developers wanted to prevent fans from zooming in too close to the iconic female characters!

What else? I went for a run today. Really should do it more often.
