Clearly colder and rainier days the past week. Warmer clothing is needed (even indoors). Autumn foliage has begun too. October, the last tolerable month before the darkness of November starts.
This week I picked up a free month trial subscription for a tv bundle that shows matches from the UEFA Champions League. I thought a small variation what I stare at in the evenings was in order.
The matches I watched this week (Berlin Union vs Braga, Napoli vs Real Madrid, Man Utd vs Galatarasay, Newcastle vs Paris SG) were all entertaining even if I wasn’t rooting for any team. I also watched two games from the Spanish league La Liga and was shocked how commonplace diving was from the softest of touches (even the defenders opting to fall down covering their faces instead of doing what their supposed to do).
As for other entertainment, I found myself going back to Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (SoP for short). It took a moment to relearn the controls again after my brain had been used to playing something else the past months (first Final Fantasy XV and then Guardians of the Galaxy).
It is always an interesting transition period when my reflexes are already used to parry, hit and dodge with certain buttons on the controller, only to notice it does the exact opposite in another game. Maybe I should custom map the controls across all games for my preferences.
I only returned to SoP to check out the season pass content I bought on sale. The content is aimed for those who love to take character customization to the max and I have been grinding in the game more than I expected.
The game is still harsh punishing on mistakes in combat, but for some reason I keep trying again and again until I find the right rhythm of blocks and strikes for each opponent (and leveling up my characters to a level that can compete against them in the first place). Seriously, I should be using my time more wisely.
I even bought one month subscription to PlayStation Plus to try out some online play, but so far it has been very quiet (I’ve only been in one short open session), which is not really a surprise considering the game hasn’t been a massive success and it has been over a year when it was released on the PlayStation.
Writing about subscriptions reminded me that I haven’t been using Tidal that much lately. Probably will have to cancel that soon.
