Grinding nights

Hints of autumn foliage present.

Unstable weather now, sometimes sunny, sometimes rainy. Make no mistake, it is autumn now.

During my free time I’ve mostly continued playing Stranger of Paradise. There is a clear “one more mission” loop going on, but the grinding has been mostly because there was a boss fight I had to win to advance the main story, but it proved too brutal to win. So I figured leveling up my character jobs might be the answer.

Spreadsheet optimization in the game.

Eventually I managed to be victorious, though it mostly was due to being patient and figuring out the most reliable attack pattern in a certain situation (it is after all a Soulslike game). In the end, it is all a rhythm game: hit the right notes at the given moment quickly and accurately enough. Leveling up did however give me some room for error.

Such a relief was the victory however, that I ended uploading the fight to YouTube. 99,99999% of all humans on this tormented planet couldn’t care less about it, but I thought it might be some use for anyone struggling with the same fight, even knowing there are hundreds of better guides on the matter already. I guess I felt like chipping into the community.

The Warrior of Light gave me a real challenge (and took a lot of my precious time).

The sad thing however is that the game is still far from over, so I really need to limit myself playing the game the following week and hide my controller from sight again. If only I could tackle real life challenges with the same determination as in the game. I guess in real life the dopamine rush is not available as frequently.
