Heavy rain recently and a bit humid. Rain is okay, humid air not so much. Last month of summer underway and the first sign of it is clearly dark nights.
This week I realised that I could download and experience Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION game on my PlayStation 5, which is more of a virtual museum exhibition experience of Radiohead’s famed albums Kid A and Amnesia. I must say I was mighty impressed by it, really felt like I was sucked into a real museum complex especially built for to portrait the visuals and sounds of the two albums. Highly recommend to visit.

KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION was a mesmerizing and creepy visual presentation of Radiohead’s two groundbreaking albums.
Lastest Final Fantasy
Then I began playing Final Fantasy XV. After maybe 10 hours of gameplay, I can say it is obviously the best looking Final Fantasy game I played so far (FFVII Remake and FFXVI are on my waiting list), the character dialog is fun to listen to and the road trip approach in a very large open world while listening to classic Final Fantasy tracks on the radio is a relaxing pastime. Oh, and the food in the game looks delicious!
However, the battle system is something I’m not convinced by yet. Maybe I’m still trying to get used to it, but so far most of the battles have left me with a feeling “I’m not quite sure what I was excepted to do, but I won nonetheless”. And as typical with any Final Fantasy game, there is no soft landing into the story or characters, but left to the player to figure out what is going on as the plot unfolds (and from reading the endless datalogs hidden in the game menus).
It clearly seems to be inspired by a lot of other triple A games (GTA, Red Dead Redemption and Elder Scrolls to name a few), but since I haven’t played any of the mentioned games, I might be spared from comparing what is done better or worse.
Okay, I did play Red Dead Redemption on the PS3 for maybe three hours, but its chunky framerate and constant disc reading was bothering enough to stop playing it. Not the case with FFXV, I have to mention, thanks to the game making use of the PS5 hardware.
Minor change in the blog
In this blog’s technical front, I finally removed my cute, but now broken Twitter feed from the front page and replaced it with selected images from my Flickr feed. It’s a shame how Twitter is having a rough time lately, but I suppose serves as an example that in the long run services rise and fall, so it’s better to stick with a self-hosted blog where I can call the shots.
Yeah, clutching to feeble justifications again.
