Above the Arctic Circle

I started a week long vacation and my only priority was to get out of Helsinki. I ended up going to Bodø in Norway, just above the Arctic Circle. I originally mulled with the idea of going to Lapland to see the midnight sun, but when I saw Finnair had a direct flight to Bodø on sale, I chose that as my destination instead.

It wasn’t an easy decision as I’ve completely lost touch in traveling after the pandemic, but eventually the agony of sitting at home pushed me to reserve the flight tickets, making it my first foreign trip in five years (there was once a day-trip to Tallinn, but for Finns that doesn’t count as one).

I knew next to nothing about Bodø, but just getting somewhere in the middle of nowhere with less people than Helsinki was just a good thing. I only stayed for two nights, but I was pleased with the trip, although already it feels like was I really there after all.

Photos of my trip still prove otherwise. While I could write about it in more detail, I won’t. Maybe in next week’s post.
