New running gear

One can say it has been an exceptional start of the summer in Helsinki when the temperature finally dips below 20 degrees. I do welcome the rain too. Well, for now at least.

New shoes

I finally decided to retire my seven year old Adidas Ultraboost running shoes and bought a new pair. I just went with the first suggestion the store personnel recommended. After a few runs I can say running feels a bit comfier than before. Funny thing is that the previous shoe design is still in production, but these days they are not marketed as running shoes, but for walking and maybe a “quick run in a park with friends”.

New running gear.

While going for a run, I stop by a public outdoor gym spot to lift some weights. Hopefully I can stick to this routine throughout summer. I also went wall climbing again and managed to complete four routes (all ranked 4-something), though my technique is questionable, using my hands to pull myself upwards more than I should. Still learning.

Digital Wonderland

I’ve also continued playing Forspoken after a full week break. The battles are visually amazing when some powerful spells are unleashed. Interesting to learn that the game engine is the same used in Final Fantasy XV and apparently these two games are the only ones to use it so far. I don’t know much about game engines, but this one isn’t a bad one in my mind.

Everything looks pretty in pink?

Veteran metal band Metallica just played two shows in Helsinki. I didn’t buy a ticket to either of them, but while taking a walk outside the stadium I noticed there was a spot where I could see one of the stage screens inside the stadium and the concert was just starting, so I ended up listening to the whole concert (to my surprise). Sure, the sound quality varied a bit depending on where the wind was blowing, but as a free concert, it was decent.

I’ve also met a lot of friends in a friend’s birthday party, some I haven’t seen since the pandemic started four years ago. It was nice to catch up what they were up to, especially ever since I deactivated my Facebook account at the start of the year.
