I haven’t played anything on my game console for ten days now, which is probably the longest pause ever since I obtained the PS5 last spring. I think I’ll try to keep myself gaming free for the whole month, feels good to do other stuff for a change.
I saw a movie Perfect Days in the cinema and I must say it was great. When the ending credits started rolling there were a few lonely isolated claps around the half empty Orion movie theatre and I felt like clapping too. It was a meditative observation of a guy cleaning public toilets in Tokyo and being quite happy about it. The mystery around the man’s past was slowly revealed, but in a manner that it didn’t really matter in the end. Touching moments and a good reminder how to find balance, reason and enjoyment in life. Highly recommended, contender of movie of the year on my list.
Giving money to the original photo sharing platform Flickr
Flickr is celebrating its 20th birthday and offered a discount on its subscriptions, so I decided to take it. I’ve had an account on the platform since 2005 and while it has been a on-and-off relationship, I still think it is my home base for sharing my photographs. Sure, its glory days have been long over for at least a decade and the user interface still is a bit outdated, but at least it doesn’t try to flood me with ads or bump into politically fueled posts.
Looking at my photo stream again, my first impressions were that I’m absolute crap in photography, but weirdly enough another round made me occasionally think, “okay, that isn’t actually that bad”. Since renewing the subscription, I’ve daily edited one photo in Lightroom and posted it on my account. Let’s see how long this run will last.
