Lost in side quests

Warm and humid, which is somewhat unusual in late September in Helsinki.

Feels again like a week when I didn’t do anything special, yet I did go see a football match, had my Rolleicord film developed, started a new video game and even fixed an old website I made maybe ten years ago that got hacked.

Then there was important stuff I (still) didn’t do, which is probably the reason for the sense of stagnation. Nothing new.

A night at the football arena

Anyways, so I went to watch the first of three home matches of local football club HJK’s in this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League. The weather was perfect and the vibes were good. I was impressed how the visitor supporters (around five hundred of them) were busy singing and chanting loudly way before the match had even started. HJK’s core supporters on the other end weren’t even mostly present until a moment before the opening formalities. The home team’s supporters weren’t exactly silent either after that.

HJK was however a level below the Greek side PAOK and as expected lost the game (although narrowly 2-3). I’m looking forward for the next game against Eintracht Frankfurt to see how much bigger the skill gap is against a much more highly ranked German club.

Adventuring in the Galaxy

I didn’t feel like bothering with Final Fantasy XV anymore after my week long gaming break, so I moved on to Guardians of the Galaxy, which was on sale (retail copy again). I always felt like playing it anyway at some point, as it seemed like fun. I need that.

The game is delightfully peppered with small details like Drax reading a book on sarcasm. “Now with read along text!”

The game mechanics have been nothing special so far (some might even say old fashioned with instant death if falling over a cliff etc.), but I’ve had a few chuckles with the main misfit characters just arguing about almost every decision they make that goes wrong (high probability in that).

The hero Starlord and his spaceship Milano. At least he claims it to be.

Anyways, a good change of scenery after playing around five(!) Final Fantasy games in a row. Yeah, made me think too.

Warp speed to next adventure (or failure)!

Photos analog and digital

My Rolleicord camera’s film roll got developed. To my disappointment there seemed to be some problem with the rolling mechanism in the camera (first time doing so), as there was an overlap in two photos. On top of that, I had some issues scanning the negatives in a library, so I had to prioritize what to scan during the one hour I had reserved.

Yeah, still not as simple as posting something to Instagram. Still, I did buy a new film roll, so maybe more in the future.
