Autumn is coming

Still feels like summer, but some plants are already decaying away.

The weather hasn’t felt like autumn yet as it has been unusually warm. Not sure is it a good or a bad thing.

I went to see Aki Kaurismäki‘s latest movie Fallen Leaves at Cinema Orion, which was sold out (quite rare, that). The movie offered no surprises, it was a classic Kaurismäki tale of working class people looking for a relationship (with social commentary). Good, but not his best, though.

End of a roadtrip

I finally finished Final Fantasy XV, or at least completed the main story, as there are plenty of quests to complete after that as well. It took around 110 hours, which is pretty much as expected as I did most of the side quests and hunts available.

All in all, it was a rather solid Final Fantasy game despite its flaws. The voice acting was good for the main characters, but there were some really cheesy ones with some of the side characters. The antagonist’s voice acting was plain annoying, I have to add.

It was a long road trip with Noctis, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XV.

I even got the game to crash once, although I think that was due to keeping the same session alive for many days by just putting my console to rest mode instead of powering it off completely. Some glitches were encountered too, but nothing that a reload didn’t fix.

As for the story, it was a mess to be frank. Unevenly paced, elements from previous FF games recycled again and blatantly leaving a lot of confusing stuff unexplained to the player (but all addressed in DLCs, novels, an anime and even a movie I apparently was supposed to watch first). But I’ve learned not to be too critical about these things in a Final Fantasy game and just try to go with the flow (or just ignore the silly stuff and embrace the good moments).

Anyways, to make sure I’ll be taking a break with gaming, I left my game controller at work, so I can’t be even tempted to continue completing any remaining quests in the game for at least a week.

Football curiosity continues

European club football is something I’ve slowly and casually started following to some degree the past year or so, even though I don’t like the level of corruption and greed that is part of it. Local football club HJK is playing in UEFA’s Europa Conference League this autumn, so I bought a ticket to each of its home games (against a Greek, German and Scottish club).

I’m not a supporter of HJK (or any other club for that matter), but more of a neutral interested in experiencing the atmosphere of these kinds of matches. Of course HJK’s home arena is no Old Trafford or Camp Nou, but I gotta start somewhere.
