The forest beckons

I’ll start with the weather as usual, which has been dry and warm. I’ve also started using the city bikes to commute to work and back. Good weather then and at least some of the street dust is cleaned away too.

During the weekend I managed to drag myself away from the city noises to Nuuksio National Park in neighboring Espoo. Walking around the forest paths breathing the fresh air and listening to birds singing is a simple way to relax my mind. I should get myself into these kinds of situations on a more frequent, scheduled basis. They say it is healthy.

Not many photos from my visit to Nuuksio. There was still small patches of snow and ice around the national park.

This post’s public art piece is a very ordinary bronze statue of Lauri Pihkala, a major influencer of sporting activities in Finland and father of “hiihtoloma”, an annual break from school around February originally meant for people to enjoy skiing, though these days it can also just mean families escaping Finland to the warmer parts of the world.

Commissioned from Nina Sailo, this statue of Lauri Pihkala was erected in 1987 next to the Olympic Stadium.

Nothing much else to add this time around. I’ve been eating more potatoes than rice lately at home? Well, that got mentioned now apparently.
