This is my 100th post in this blog, which has been up and running for almost 14 years. Actually, my blogging started way back in the year 2000, but all that stuff is offline as I’ve changed the publishing platform along the years.
Back in the day before social media really exploded, blogging was the primary method of posting online what people have been up to. It was an exciting routine knowing that anyone around the world could read about my not so exciting adventures. These days it has become much easier and commonplace with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. Writing a whole blog post filled mainly with text is not really convenient in this increasingly rapid fire information overflow world we live in.
Yet, here I am still doing it. I haven’t had a single comment during all these years, so that isn’t the thing that has been driving me to continue. Maybe it is a self set tradition, that I find hard to end after writing for so long and holding on to this DIY web site I made with my own hands (okay, just the desktop theme layout).
I guess I’ll just keep on going. So, what else I’ve been up to then?
I’ve kept my game console’s controller out of sight and let my time fill up with other stuff. I’ve managed to start reading a book, visited a museum, had my hair cut, took long walks, listened to music, watched movies, took a 5km run and generally tried to pry open my current state of mind by meditating. Pretty okay, then.
From the music I’ve been listening to I’d mention a live album of a small gig I saw myself a few years ago in a pizza bar basement. I remember being impressed how good it was and sure enough, this recording proves I wasn’t imagining things!
Bust of a composer that got shot
I haven’t written much about public art in recent posts, so here goes a bust of Toivo Kuula I noticed while taking a walk (something I wouldn’t have payed attention to unless I was having my little public art project).
Yet again thanks to my project, I learned that Toivo Kuula was a Finnish composer whom was regarded by many only second to the great Jean Sibelius. Unfortunately he got shot in a drunken quarrel around the final days of the Finnish civil war. What a tragedy (not to mention the civil war itself of course).
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the weather. Getting warmer and sunnier all the time. And a bit dusty too, unfortunately.
