Anticipation towards another spring was bluntly cut short for this venerable tree.
The days are again longer than the nights, the clocks got turned and after a sense of spring coming, “takatalvi” came. Otherwise the past week has been rather forgettable, but a blog post I shall write.
I’m still listening to Suede’s latest album, so I’ll have to consider seeing them at the Flow Festival. Depeche Mode released their new album a week ago and it is decent, but again nothing that clearly would be seen as one of their best. Not sure will I bother seeing them live yet.
Since I’m on a video game diet, I watched Interstellar again (maybe the third time now). I still think it is one of the better sci-fi movies released in the past ten years. I also started rewatching the extended version of Lord of the Rings trilogy, but more like in one hour sessions instead of having four hour marathons at one go.
What I really need to do is take a vacation, but I’m having trouble deciding where to go and when. It has been ages since I’ve traveled abroad, I hardly remember how to plan one even. I’ve been too stuck being in Helsinki these days.
Closing this post with another public art piece, this one is called “Memorial to Women in Times of War” (1996), the first Finnish memorial honouring and commemorating the work done by women during World War II. The abstract appearance of this memorial done by Heikki Häiväoja feels odd and maybe even a bit dated in expression. Public art made in the 90s hasn’t impressed me so far.
