Trance State

Well now, it has been a full month since I’ve written anything here. Not much to write about, I guess. Or maybe there is, let me try.

Dancing with the Europeans

I bought a new album from Suede the day it was released, Antidepressants. Based on the two singles they dropped before release and their brilliant album Automation a few years earlier, I had high expectations towards this one.

Well, it might not have met them, but it has been spinning on my turntable daily, so that should count as an indication I like it to some degree. I must mention the pressing on my vinyl copy isn’t that clean sound-wise, but it is always a gamble with vinyl on that front.

The band is coming over to Helsinki next year as part of their European tour, so I’ll surely grab a ticket to their show. I saw them for the first time a few years ago at the Flow Festival where they focused on their hits, but I’ll assume they will play more of their newer material on this new tour.

I had the option to buy a limited version on vinyl, but I ended up on a regular version. Saved maybe a wholesome two euros.

Almost going to see Radiohead

Speaking of tickets and concerts, I also planned buying a ticket to Radiohead’s surprise European tour later this year, but as expected those tickets sold out in a blink of an eye. In fact, after being in the queue of almost seven thousand others and finally getting to the point I could see what seats were available, I was left stunned how they quickly disappeared into thin air before my eyes.

Okay, I did have the chance to buy a lonely seat for a Copenhagen concert in the very last back row of the venue, but then came to the conclusion I’m not that desperate to see them live to justify all the extra costs of actually flying there, paying for accommodation etc. Sure, I might regret not buying the ticket, but maybe one day the band might bother coming all the way to Finland.

More likely not.
