Various forms of entertainment

Back at work after my three month work leave. After the initial shock of why we people submit to work in the first place, I try to think about the money given in return to ease the frustration. But what have I been doing outside work?

For the first time this year, I went to watch a football match. It was the local football club HJK against Kí Klaksvík from the Faroe Islands(!). The stakes were pretty high as the winner gets to play in the UEFA Conference League later this year (in other words, lots of money involved).

HJK were not at their best and even fell 0-1 down in the second period, but with a little help from the referee and VAR (red card to one of the Klaksvík players), HJK netted two goals at the dying moments of the game. The crowd has pretty happy about that.

This all means I might be tempted to watch more home games in the Conference League, despite the opponents not being the most interesting (from Norway, Slovenia and Belarus) and the weather probably not being the kindest (the first home game start as late as 10pm and the last will be at late as 12th of December). I wonder if HJK manages to advance from the League phase what the conditions are for playing around February.

Entertaining movies

I’ve also been to the movies. First I saw a Finnish spy comedy from the 80s called Agentti 000 ja Kuoleman Kurvit. It was exactly as silly as I expected and laughed out loud during a chase scene where cars fell off cliffs and crashed into each other for no obvious reasons.

Another movie I saw that made me laugh was Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. The plot was a beautiful mess backed by a bad English dub and of course monsters beating each other up. Possibly the best of all Godzilla movies I’ve seen (though I think I’ve only seen a handful).

I’ve also ended my break with gaming and started playing The Talos Principle 2, which is a puzzle game adventure of sorts with a lot of philosophical dialog between humanoid androids. I’m only a few hours in, but it seems like a nice change of scenery in the gaming department for me. Puzzle solving is fun.
